Bike Indiana Kilometer Excursion (BIKE) June 3-6, 2010 |
What's happening:
| We will be riding our bikes through the covered bridge counties of Western Indiana. On Thursday, June 3 we will start at Greencastle SDA Church at 9:00 AM. Lodging will be available at TRC Wednesday night for those who will be traveling to this event. We will be riding around 60 miles per day on Thursday and Friday. Thursday night we will be camping at Raccoon SRA. Friday evening and Sabbath we will be camping at Shades State park. On Sabbath following our worship service, we will be canoeing down Sugar Creek to Turkey Run State Park. On Sunday we will be riding around 35 miles back to Greencastle SDA Church arriving around noon. Over the course of the weekend we will see over 10 covered bridges. Our speaker for the weekend will be Pastor Alex Rodriquez, an avid cyclist who loves the Lord and young people.

| How hard is this ride? |
The countryside in western Indiana has gently rolling hills. The climbs will be moderate and short.

| What do I need to do to prepare for this ride? | As soon as the weather improves enough to get on a bike, get out and ride! If you can get to the point were you can ride 20-30 miles a couple of days a week you will have no trouble over our ride. The Best bike for the ride is a road bike, but a hybrid or even a mountain bike will work.

| What do I need to bring for this ride? | of course a bike, but other than that just a tent and a sleeping bag. We will provide SAG support for each day's ride. Snacks and drinks will be available through out the day. If you grow tired and need a ride, our SAG vehicle has a bike rack and extra seats. All meals starting with Thursday Lunch-Sunday Lunch are provided.

| Who can come? | Teens, sponsors, and anyone who is looking for an opportunity to enjoy an active, spiritual weekend are invited to attend.
Sponsors are welcomed! For every three youth you bring we will cover your cost for the trip. We can also take young people without sponsors. There will be plenty of supervision available.

| What is the cost: | $70.00 covers food, camping costs and support for the weekend. The deadline for registering is Tuesday, May 25, 2010.
